Genesis:

A few years ago a friend came to me, who was to become self-employed in the term. Since his wife is a successful professional rider and also operates a saddle shop, he wondered if he did not improve the saddle sale by purchasing a system for computer-saddle analysis. He agreed a demonstration, and I had the opportunity to watch this demonstration. So I came for the first time in touch with such a system. What my friend deterred to buy one system was the very high purchase price. Although I am mechanical engineer I possess very good knowledge of electronic measurement technology. And so the idea of me to venture together with my colleagues, a very experienced programmer himself to the development of better, cheaper system was created ... This was the birth of the Satteltester. But only after we had the first stages of development done, we already began gradually to note that an effective, meaningful saddle analysis can never be done in the standing horse. We improved our system again and integrated radio transmitting and later additionally also a video function. The improved system is now capable to scan and analyze saddles perfectly and consistently. After almost two years we began in early 2005 to present the system in equestrian circles - and the response was huge. In many circles experienced riders have a very great need for instruction about the interaction between horse, saddle and rider. In our presentation events and many test measurements, we found that on average more than half of all saddles have small to serious deficiencies. Here is a very large potential for optimization. We hope that we can help with our Satteltester to understand this interaction more and more and help indirectly on improvements for the health of these fantastic animals.

 Yours David Albrecht
